This phone looks great, feels solid and sounds well. Using new cells works but the same problem appears. However the unit I purchased won't keep working for over 2 hours of actual use (even w/o using the speakerphone) on 3 AA cells. It appears to drain the cells after 2 hours of actual use. After reading horror stories about refurbished units being sent back as "repaired units" by Panasonic I'm reluctant to go through the hassle of shipping it to them for warranty repairs. I'd write this off as a loss due to bad design.
Nowadays, corded phone options are increasingly more limited but I believe still essential, especially in an electrical power outage when most cordless ones will not work. No clipping, no noise, no static. After over a decade of daily use by my wife and at relatively high volume, the speakerphone part of the last Panasonic corded phone I purchased started to crackle and so it was time to get a new one. This model is easy to set up and use, wall or desktop, has excellent clarity and a very good speakerphone with more than adequate volume. Buttons are a comfortable size and the phone permits use with an optional plug-in telecom headset and microphone for more comfortable, hands free conversations. There's a DATA jack as well for modem or fax users to plug into if needed and the speed dialer feature has battery backup.All-in-all, a terrific value and excellent performance in a smart-looking corded phone.
I did a great deal of looking, for speakerphone and headset compatible. It has worked up to my expectations.
Nice phone for the money, would be 5 stars but the phone has a LCD display instead of a LED display, which makes it very hard to see the time. Sound quality is very good.
The phone came much sooner than I had expected, & I am very pleased with it. It is just what I was looking for, a phone with automatic dialing but with a space for the name beside the button. It works great, has great sound, & I love it.
